Please notify the Health Centre of your pregnancy.

Multivitamins suitable for pregnancy are advised from 12 weeks before you get pregnant and should be continued until at least 12 weeks pregnant (your community Pharmacist can advise). If not already taking you will need to purchase one suitable for pregnancy containing:

Folic Acid 400micrograms daily

Vitamin D 10micrograms daily, especially from September to April.

A higher Folic Acid dose of 5mg daily is required for the following patients and is available on prescription from your GP Practice:

1.  Patients with epilepsy

2.  Patients with a family history of Spina Bifida

3.  Patients with a BMI (body mass index) over 30. BMI is calculated by dividing your

weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres. The following calculator can

be used https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/bmi-calculator/or if you are

unsure, contact the Health Centre with your weight and height and we will calculate this

for you and advise on dose of Folic Acid.

If you have any questions, please contact the Health Centre for advice.
